Northern Uganda Resilient Innovation Network- Apac Municipal council chapter

Apac municipal council is in celebratory stature as one of the renown developmental NGO Northern Uganda Resilient Innovation Network Apac Municipal council chapter has launched its operations in Apac Municipal Council in the area of science,technology and innovation(ICT4D) under stewardship of its ICT Officer/Team lead Mr.Arwai Danniel and Okello Peter the Field Technical Officer NURIN.

 Northern Uganda Resilience Innovation Network (NURIN) was incorporated in April 2021 with the goal of enhancing the role of science, technology and innovation in addressing development challenges in Northern Uganda. Since its inception, NURIN has partnered with national and international institutions to promote ICT for Development (ICT4D), including internet connectivity programs, AgriTech initiatives, youth innovation, and school ICT programs.

Key achievements include establishment of the Rural Community Broadband Network (RCBN) in Apac and supporting the setup of a similar network in Oyam District; provision of solar-powered internet connectivity to schools, health facilities and community spaces; AgriTech support to farmer groups; and participation in national innovation and engineering initiatives. NURIN convened a meeting of community stakeholders to reflect on past achievements, identify priority needs, and collaboratively design strategic activities for 2026.

Apac, Uganda — The Rural Community Broadband Network (RCBN), under the coordination of the Northern Uganda Resilience Innovation Network (NURIN), is redefining agriculture in Apac District through the integration of AgriTech tools and digital solutions.

The project, supported by Internet Society, NURIN and netLabs!UG , is enhancing rural connectivity and introducing farmers to smart, data-driven farming practices.

The AgriTech initiative seeks to empower local farmers through the use of technology, including soil health kits, moisture sensors, and mobile applications, to improve decision-making and increase crop yields.

The Rural Community Broadband Network (RCBN) in Apac District comprises 13 operational sites. These sites include, an ICT hub, Apac District Headquarters, Bedigen farmer’s Group in Awiri, Apac Secondary School, Atopi Primary School, Maruzi Seed Secondary School, Apac Technical School, St. Albert Technical Institute, Apac Main Hospital, Atopi Market, KIC Office, and Nicho Poto Studio.

The RCBN has significantly impacted various sectors in Apac District, including education, agriculture, and public administration.
